THE REGION
It is a very wide sub-area that includes the entire Rabbi valley (Predappio stream) and the left valley of the Bidente stream.
The entire sub-area speaks of clay in its many hues. The most representative and typical area is that of Predappio Alta (150-350m asl) where the marl is poor, calcareous and rich in sulphur minerals.
The appellation is completed by the areas of Cusercoli (north of Predappio with ochre marl and sandstone), San Cristoforo (left bank of Rabbi with fine brown clay lightened by sandstone), Fiumana and Ravaldino (steady clay often eroded parallel to Rabbi), Rocca delle Caminate and Meldola (right bank of the Rabbi and left of Bidente with brown and red clay often elegant and calcareous), Massa and Vecchiazzano (lowest part of the sub-area, under the line of the ravines near the municipality of Forlì similar to Oriolo).
THE WINES
The wines are very variable within such a wide sub-area.
The most characteristic area is that of Predappio Alta where the wines speak of elegant clay with extensive mineralness at times severe and slightly greenish.
The wines of San Cristoforo , Cusercoli and Rocca delle Caminate share with Predappio the verticality and quality of the structure.
The warmest areas of Fiumana and Massa speak a more muscular language but always with fine body, mineralness and clayey build.
