TERRITORY
This is a very extensive sub-area crossed by the Montone stream.
The most representative area is that of Castrocaro (90-150m asl) characterised by tenacious clays often heavily eroded (Bagnolo). In the highest part of the appellation (Dovadola) the marly clays acquire colour and greater lightness.
THE WINES
