Brisighella

brisighella

THE REGION
This is a very wide sub-area that extends along the valley of the Lamone stream.
The most representative vineyards of the mention lie above the line of the ravines close to the town of Brisighella at an altitude of 150-400 m asl. These soils (arising from the disintegration of the Marnoso-Arenacea Formation, often chalky) are loose, shallow, often calcareous and chalky.
Under the line of the ravines in the direction of the via Emilia the appellation extends into the Monte Coralli area, where the clays become steadier, with rare appearances of the Messinian yellow sand; the climate is warmer than in Brisighella.

THE WINES
Brisighella wines are very well-balanced, elegant and rich in red fruits. The structure loses in power but gains in persistence and flavour. More voluminous and warmer wines are obtained from the Monte Coralli region, typical of Sangiovese grown on clay.
